Collas Crill ‘understands the need for commerciality when applying legal concerns to issues’ was just one of the client comments included in the 2017 Legal 500 Caribbean edition.
Following its merger in 2015 and decision to make submissions across practice areas for the first time, the firm's Cayman office has been included in the rankings with four ranked and recommended practice areas and six listed lawyers.
In the firm's commercial and investment funds teams, recommended lawyers were ‘knowledgeable, experienced and pragmatic’ partner and head of the corporate & commercial practice area, Alan de Saram, partner Joss Morris, described as ‘very proactive, responsive and takes the time to understand clients’ businesses and their requirements’ and partner Stephen Nelson, noted for ‘providing good, timely advice'.
Partner and head of the dispute resolution team Stephen Leontsinis is described as ‘an excellent advocate, good strategist and able to foresee potential issues when planning litigation strategy’.
Also recommended was partner and head of the firm's trust and private wealth department, Antony Duckworth and associate Wendy Stenning.
Cayman managing partner, Alan de Saram, said: "Following our 2015 merger and as a global offshore firm servicing not only our long standing clients but also bringing on new clients and relationships, we recognise the Legal 500 rankings are important for our industry and it's great to see Collas Crill represented across practice areas in the Caribbean market.
"More recently, our Cayman office has seen a lot of growth and expansion with new and lateral hires. Alongside our planned merger with BVI firm Farara Kerins, our presence in the Caribbean is going from strength to strength."
