Collas Crill has appointed Stephen Leontsinis and Joss Morris as Partners and Simon Hurry and Gareth Morgan as Senior Associates in its expanding Cayman office.
The appointments follow the merger of global offshore law firm Collas Crill with Cayman firm Charles Adams Ritchie & Duckworth (CARD) in January. The firm is known as Collas Crill and CARD in the Cayman Islands.
"Stephen, Joss, Simon and Gareth bring valuable experience from both offshore and onshore jurisdictions, combined with proven track records in dealing with complex, cross-jurisdictional matters," said Collas Crill and CARD Partner, Alan de Saram.
"These strategic hires will allow us to expand rapidly into new international markets without compromising the high standard of service our clients expect from Collas Crill and CARD."
Stephen, who will lead and grow the dispute resolution team, previously worked in Miami as an attorney of a boutique U.S. litigation firm, where he focused on cross-border insolvency disputes, and prior to that in the Cayman Islands at Conyers Dill & Pearman. He is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice on insolvency disputes and trust litigation in various offshore jurisdictions.
The corporate and commercial team welcomes Joss who has extensive corporate and funds experience, particularly in a private equity and venture capital context where he advises both sponsors and investors on Cayman fund formation and investments as well as on portfolio transaction matters. Prior to joining Collas Crill Joss was a Partner and Head of the Cayman Private Equity Practice at Harney, Westwood & Riegels having also previously worked with Walkers in the Cayman Islands and, prior to that, for eight years at Linklaters in London.
The dispute resolution team also welcomes Simon Hurry who joined the firm in 2008 and has relocated to the Cayman Islands from Jersey where he was awarded 'Junior Lawyer of the Year' in 2014 by the Jersey Law Society. Simon is actively involved with high value contentious trust and insolvency matters. Simon also has experience in regulatory matters and was called to the Cayman bar in March earlier this year.
Gareth Morgan, who was called to the Cayman bar in June and has relocated from the Guernsey office, will join the Corporate and Commercial team as a Senior Associate working primarily in the areas of corporate finance, banking, investment funds and CISE listings. Gareth trained as a solicitor within the firm and was admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2009.
Collas Crill Managing Partner, Jason Romer, said: "Our Cayman office has expanded rapidly since the merger in January. With a unique network of offices in Asia, Cayman, London and the Channel Islands we are able to support clients globally and field legal advice seamlessly across time zones.
"We are committed to building a strong, client focused team in Cayman; one that understands the local legal landscape but also has the breadth of global experience that allows us to continue offering the thorough, efficient and accurate service that Collas Crill is known for.
"We are pleased to welcome Stephen, Joss, Simon and Gareth to the Cayman office and we're confident that they will be a driving force behind the continued success of the team."
