Collas Crill's Simon Hurry has been named Jersey Junior Lawyer of the Year by the Jersey Law Society.
This is the second year the award, which is open to Jersey advocates and solicitors (ecrivains) of up to 3 years' PQE, has been made. The award recognises the contribution of young Island lawyers to the legal profession in Jersey, their firm, student learning and the Island community, innovation.
Collas Crill partner Nuno Santos Costa said: "This is extremely well deserved, and is a fantastic accolade for Simon, given that he was only called as a Jersey Advocate in March of last year."
Simon has recently been promoted to senior associate in Collas Crill's Dispute Resolution department. He undertakes a wide range of litigation work across both commercial litigation and private client litigation.

He is a hugely committed, hard working and diligent young lawyer and a credit to Collas Crill and the Jersey legal profession. Simon is actively involved in leading and assisting with high value trust and commercial disputes. He also has experience in regulatory matters, mediations and dealing with insolvency related issues, both in a contentious and non-contentious context.
As an adjunct to his commercial work, Simon has a busy and thriving employment law practice - acting for both employers and employees - in relation to claims in the Employment and Discrimination Tribunal, compromise agreements and general employment matters. Simon started appearing in Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal some years before qualifying as a Jersey advocate.
In the 2014 edition of Chambers Europe he was described as a "young, dynamic lawyer who is going to go a long way, a true asset to the firm". In the employment section of the 2015 edition he was listed as a 'Leader in his Field' and an 'Associate to Watch', and described as "very competent and knowledgeable". He has also been recommended for his employment work in the Legal 500.
