It was a full house with more than 100 delegates attending our Risk and Regulatory spring conference in Guernsey on 2 July 2024.
Chaired by Michael Adkins, Nin Ritchie and Steve Moore were joined by Saima Hanif KC of 3VB on the panel discussing crypto currencies:
- their impact on how we do business;
- regulatory enforcement; and
- safely navigating Guernsey's financial crime regime.
Steve took the delegates on a journey of crypto discovery giving them an insight into the currency and how to build robust frameworks to explore future crypto opportunities.
'The merger of virtual assets and traditional finance is already happening. Many of us are now only beginning to understand the nature of crypto currencies and their increasing impact on our businesses,' said Steve.
Saima is one of London's leading regulatory silks. Having successfully acted on a number of complex enforcement matters before the UK's FCA and PRA, she is on the Guernsey Financial Services Commission's panel of Senior Decision Makers.
She shared her unique insight into the enforcement process from both the side of the regulator and the industry. She also shared her views on recent enforcement cases and lessons to be learned by everyone involved.
'Life has never been tougher, and responsibilities more weighty, for MLROs,' said Nin.
Nin took the audience through the current key risks and challenges of externalising SARs, navigating the consent regime and managing client relationships.
