The 2016 Collas Crill Island Walk has attracted more entrants than ever before with over 1300 walkers taking part in one of Jersey’s biggest community events.
This is the third year that Collas Crill have sponsored the event and in that time hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for Jersey charities. The chosen charities that will benefit from the funds raised this year include; St John Ambulance, Durrell, Jersey Cheshire Home, Teenage Cancer Trust Jersey Appeal, Jersey Mencap, Silkworth, Les Amis, Ridout House and Age Concern Jersey. Last year saw over £125,000 raised for Jersey charities and brought the total amount raised since the beginning of the walk to over £2,000,000.
The race, that takes place on Saturday 18 June, is split into three main categories – the full 48.1 mile walk for those who relish the physical challenge, the relay, which sees a team of four walk 12 miles each and the 10.9 mile Lieutenant Governor's Challenge which is ideal for those with young families, or less of an appetite to conquer all 48.1 miles at once.
