Collas Crill represents Princess Camilla in relation to her intervention in an appeal to the Privy Council of the Court of Appeal's judgment in relation to the original four Defendants' forum challenge, her own challenge to the jurisdiction of the Royal Court (now abandoned following the Privy Council's rejection of the appeal) and her future involvement in the proceedings generally.
Princess Camilla is a beneficiary of the Grand Trust, a trust settled by her mother ostensibly as a tax efficient structure within which to hold the wealth that she had accumulated and to provide for its transfer to future generations.
The Jersey proceedings are the main action in a multi-jurisdictional web of litigation arising from a dispute primarily between the First Plaintiff and the First Defendant in relation to a series of transactions by which assets were removed from the Grand Trust and settled into other trusts. Proceedings were first commenced in Jersey in January 2013 but Princess Camilla was not joined until April 2014, after the original four Defendants had, unsuccessfully, pursued a forum challenge before the Royal Court and the Court of Appeal.
