Collas Crill is hosting a seminar on Public Law: considerations for business. In an age of increasing legislation, regulation and government decision making that impacts the operation of a business, we will look at how you as local businesses in Guernsey can challenge regulatory and government decisions, by raising arguments of unreasonableness, proportionality and acting beyond given powers.
The Risk and Regulatory team will be joined by guest speaker Hanif Mussa, a leading expert of Blackstone Chambers. Hanif has appeared in some of the leading Public Law cases in recent years, often involving UK regulatory bodies, which have taken him all the way up to the Supreme Court.
Session One - An introduction to Public Law and its relevance to a wide range of financial and non-financial local businesses
Collas Crill's Michael Adkins will discuss the basics of Public Law on a need-to-know basis, will explain how decisions of the regulator and government may impact your business and will present tactics for challenge.
