Jersey Spring Seminar Series: Islamic Finance Seminar

Last autumn we hosted a seminar which provided an introduction to Shari'a principles and areas where traditional offshore structures need to be adapted in order to take account of Shari'a requirements, particularly in private wealth structuring and succession planning.

This Spring we invite you to consider how a market (which is currently estimated to be worth between US$1.66 trillion and US$2.1 trillion, and is set to grow to US$3.4 trillion by the end of 2018) could impact activity in the Channel Islands. Whilst a significant proportion of that market is dominated by the GCC, the potential growth of the market in Africa and Asia should not be underestimated. Finance houses are increasingly under pressure to innovate and provide greater ranges of Shari'a compliant products and services. Shari'a compliant investments have an appeal beyond the Islamic market, and Shari'a is rapidly driving the manner in which funds are raised and investments/acquisitions made.

Attend our Islamic Finance seminar and hear our speakers discuss:

  • The differences between conventional funding and Shari'a compliant funding arrangements
  • The role of advisers and service providers
  • Hot markets for 2016
  • Current trends in GCC and South East Asia
